The Etowah Water and Sewer Authority held its opening ceremonies on October 13, 2009 for the completion of Dawson Forest Water Reclamation Facility expansion to 1.0 MGD. The expansion consists of the following major new facilities at the plant. Influent pump station, mechanical screen, sequence batch reactor system including new tanks, mixers, decanters, blowers, and other ancillary equipment, effluent parshall flume, operations and electrical buildings. In addition to the new facilities, the existing sequencing batch rectors were converted to sludge holding tanks and the existing belt press was retained for continued use. Treated effluent is irrigated on eleven spray fields with a combined wetted area of 151 acres. Fields six through eleven were constructed as part of the LAS Expansion to 1.0 MGD.
